Is my existing basement suite legal?

If it was never registered with the City of Calgary, it almost certainly is not. We assess it against current Alberta Building Code and give you an honest gap list in your free consultation.

What does legalizing a basement suite involve?

Typically egress window upgrades, fire-rated separation, interconnected smoke alarms, proper ventilation and sometimes entrance or electrical work, followed by city inspections and registration.

Do I have to tear out my finished basement?

Usually no. We open only what code work requires and restore finishes to match. Our quotes separate must-do code items from nice-to-have upgrades.

Why is this service Calgary only?
